Have you come across soulpancake?
I’m seriously in love with what they do… and the messages they send.
I stumbled across one of their videos this morning and it touched me in so many ways.
Take a look and you’ll notice that everyone is sitting opposite a loved one, yet they appear so vulnerable. Well most do. One awesome husband seems to be in his element right from the start!
As the video plays, you can see the feeling shift.
They begin to relax into the feeling of being vulnerable, which helps them to shift beyond it. The vulnerability transforms into a feeling of connection with the person in front of them.
There are a few important insights here:
1. Sometimes we feel most vulnerable around those we feel closest to
Just because we know and love someone, doesn’t mean we aren’t going to feel vulnerable around them… nor they with us. It’s good to be mindful of that.
2. Feelings like vulnerability don’t last, if we learn to let it go.
The feeling of being vulnerable shifted into a feeling of connection. The same thing happens with other negative emotions, as long as we stop trying to hold onto them. Let the go. Allow negative emotions to share their message with you, so it can morph into something positive or constructive.
3. A personal insight
Watching this also helped me realise how important it is to connect with people in our lives, on social media but also offline too. So often the most precious people in my life are right there in the room with me, and I’m lost in my digital world.
It’s so important to take the time to just look at the person in front of us… not a quick glance.
A full attentive gaze that lasts…
